DCCC spokesperson Jacob Peters released the following statement on the results of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District:
“As Democrats build the largest House battlefield in more than a decade, it should terrify vulnerable Republicans that their party had to run a desperate rescue mission to hold on to this deep red seat in Arizona.
“Republicans shouldn’t have had to spend a dime to hold this district, and yet they poured in more than a million dollars because their candidate couldn’t separate herself from the toxic Washington Republican agenda. Meanwhile, Dr. Hiral Tipirneni impressively closed the gap by running a well-funded, grassroots campaign focused on protecting healthcare, Medicare, and Social Security.
“These narrow results in Arizona’s 8th District spell serious trouble for the Republican majority, particularly because it proves there is no place in the country where energized, organized Democrats are not ready to compete.”
