DCCC Statement on Congressman Dent’s Retirement from PA-15

Upon the news that Congressman Charlie Dent (PA-15) will not seek re-election, DCCC spokesperson Evan Lukaske released the following statement:

“Congressman Dent considers himself a leader of the Republican governing wing, and his retirement is a clear sign that he has lost all hope of doing  that job under Speaker Ryan and President Trump. After nine months of utter failure to get even the most basic things done for hardworking families, it’s no surprise that Dent is as sick and tired of the Republican party as the American people.

“Congressman Dent’s retirement opens up a competitive seat that President Obama won in 2008 and narrowly lost in 2012, and Democrats are confident that a strong candidate will step up to run and represent the people of the 15th Congressional District in November.”
