| Following President Biden’s “Battle for the Soul of the Nation” speech in Philadelphia, the DCCC released the following statement from Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney:
“President Biden’s speech is a firm reminder of what is at stake this election. Voters across the nation will have a choice at the ballot box this November – a choice between democracy or the path to autocracy; a choice between the freedom to make decisions about one’s own body or forfeiting those decisions to an out-of-touch, extreme branch of the Republican party; a choice between standing up for what is right or forgoing our power at the ballot box to MAGA Republicans who will not hesitate to obstruct justice, throw out our votes, chase conspiracy theories, and bar any standard of governing if it means they’ll gain power for themselves.
“The Soul of America is still alive. You see it in lines of people wrapping around gymnasiums waiting to cast their vote, despite Republican efforts to suppress them. You see it on the streets where women and men join hands to peacefully protest GOP efforts to ban abortion and reproductive health care. You see it in the workforce, where everyday Americans get up and work hard to contribute to our record growing economy. You see it in the classroom, where children earn a quality education while being taught to love, care, and contribute to the people and world around them.
“We have no choice but to rise up and defend our democracy and country at the ballot box this November. If we take our constitution, our freedoms, and our country for granted, we risk losing it all to MAGA Republicans whose loyalty is only tethered to self-serving power and the approval of one man.” |
