DCCC Statement on Hispanic Heritage Month

DCCC Chair Ben Ray Luján issued the following statement on Hispanic Heritage Month:

“During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the contributions and sacrifices made by the Hispanic community that makes our country so exceptional. From Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, who risked it all and led farmworkers to fight for fair wages and basic working conditions, to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who became the first Hispanic to serve in our nation’s highest court, to the millions of DREAMers who are committed to fixing our broken immigration system – this is part of the story of our great country.”

“As we embark on the last stretch of this election cycle, we are reminded of what’s at stake this election: choosing between the racism and hatred we are seeing from the Donald Trump-Republican Party or electing Democrats up-and-down the ballot who are ready to fight for the Hispanic community, in front of and behind closed doors.”

“House Republicans are more interested in putting their Party before our country, and Hispanics, just like the rest of Americans, deserve leaders that will stand up and fight against their dangerous agenda and vision for our country. This November, voters will reject this ugly and toxic rhetoric and the Party of Trump that owns it.”
