DCCC Communications Director Courtney Rice released the following statement after Congressman Andy Barr announced that he was vacating Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District to run for Senate:
“House Republicans are running for the exits because they know their cost-raising, freedom-threatening agenda is deeply unpopular with voters. Democrats are on offense this cycle and this now-open seat just became even more winnable. Kentuckians deserve a representative who will put their interests first – fighting to lower costs, create good jobs, and protect their health care, not another rubberstamp for their D.C. party boss’s agenda of tax breaks for billionaires.” In 2023, Democratic Governor Andy Beshear won Kentucky’s 6th 60-40 and earlier this month the DCCC added the district to its offensive Districts in Play list.
