DCCC spokesperson Eli Cousin released the following statement in response to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s enabling the final passage of Republicans’ Tax Scam:
“Republicans would not have been able to pass their Tax Scam without the support of Brian Fitzpatrick. It is an indisputable fact that Fitzpatrick had a chance to fully kill this disastrous budget bill in May, but instead cast the deciding vote to keep the bill alive and advance it to the Senate.
“Now, Fitzpatrick is trying to cover his tracks because he knows that his vote to advance massive cuts to Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts for billionaires will end his career. But Fitzpatrick can’t deceive voters: Nothing can change the fact that he enabled and voted to advance this monstrosity when he could have shut it down.”
Reminder: Fitzpatrick cast the deciding vote in May to advance House Republicans’ Tax Scam, paving the way for the final budget to become law.
