| Following breaking news that new preliminary data from the Missouri Secretary of State’s office shows that Missourians submitted enough qualifying signatures to force a referendum on Republicans’ gerrymandered map, DCCC spokesperson Lindsay Reilly released the below statement:
“This news is a victory for every Missourian who believes that voters, not politicians, should decide the outcome of our elections. By signing their names, more than 300,000 of Missourians – well above the required threshold – have made clear they are fed up with Republicans’ desperate attempts to cling to power.
“Jefferson City Republicans know they can’t win on their toxic, price-spiking agenda, so they’re trying to split communities and drown out people’s voices in order to fix an election before a single vote is cast.
“The cynical politicians in Jefferson City underestimated the power of the people. Missourians are proving that together, they are stronger than power-grabbing politicians.” |
