DCCC Statement on Data Showing Missourians Submitted Enough Qualifying Signatures To Force Referendum on GOP Gerrymandered Map

Following breaking news that new preliminary data from the Missouri Secretary of State’s office shows that Missourians submitted enough qualifying signatures to force a referendum on Republicans’ gerrymandered map, DCCC spokesperson Lindsay Reilly released the below statement:

“This news is a victory for every Missourian who believes that voters, not politicians, should decide the outcome of our elections. By signing their names, more than 300,000 of Missourians – well above the required threshold – have made clear they are fed up with Republicans’ desperate attempts to cling to power.

“Jefferson City Republicans know they can’t win on their toxic, price-spiking agenda, so they’re trying to split communities and drown out people’s voices in order to fix an election before a single vote is cast.

“The cynical politicians in Jefferson City underestimated the power of the people. Missourians are proving that together, they are stronger than power-grabbing politicians.”
