DCCC Statement on DC Republican Money Pouring in to Attack the Candidate They Fear Most: Firefighter Bob Brooks

In response to reporting that a DC Republican-aligned dark money super PAC plans to spend more than half a million dollars attacking firefighter Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin issued the following statement:

“Republicans are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to attack firefighter Bob Brooks because they’re afraid to face him in November. They know what we know: career politician Ryan Mackenzie doesn’t stand a chance against a working class guy who has dedicated his life to serving the community he loves. This desperate ploy will backfire, and we will beat Mackenzie and take back the House in November.”

BACKGROUND:

  • Lead Left PAC was incorporated with the FEC just two weeks ago. Its address, according to the FEC, is a Staples in Tallahassee, Florida.
  • Punchbowl News reports that the metadata for the PAC’s website has a WinRed link (the site Republicans use to fundraise), and that House Republicans’ super PAC Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF) declined to deny their involvement in the group.
  • The DC Republican-aligned group intends to spend more than half a million dollars attacking Bob Brooks.
