Today, a near-total abortion ban in Florida takes effect. This law will have a devastating impact on women and families in Florida and underscores how imperative it is to protect abortion rights nationwide.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen released the following statement:
“Today, women in Florida woke up with fewer rights than they had yesterday. Under this near-total abortion ban, they will now have to travel out of state for health care. Voters are outraged over Republicans’ draconian policy and won’t look kindly on out-of-touch politicians like Anna Paulina Luna and María Elvira Salazar who support the erosion of their rights.
“Floridians will respond at the ballot box. Not only will they vote to protect abortion rights through the ballot initiative, but they will kick out Luna and Salazar and elect leaders who will work to protect abortion rights and access – not bring this country backwards.”
