DCCC Statement on Florida’s Proposed, Further Gerrymandered Congressional Map

Following the release of a new, further gerrymandered congressional map for Florida, DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz released the following statement:

“Since day one of the Republican scheme to rig the midterms, the public has repeatedly demonstrated that they hate it when politicians try to choose their voters, subverting the will of the people. It’s clear Republicans haven’t learned a thing, choosing to move forward with a corrupt partisan power grab that violates Florida’s strict prohibition of partisan gerrymanders.

“Republicans are doing this because they know they have lost the support of the American people, and with it, the midterms.

“We’ve said it before, and it bears repeating: Republicans should be careful what they wish for. Make no mistake, the DCCC is on offense with four Florida seats already on our Districts in Play, and we anticipate this blatantly illegal map will be struck down by the courts.”
