DCCC Statement on Hispanic Heritage Month

DCCC Chairwoman, Cheri Bustos issued the following statement in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month:

“From serving in our armed forces, to leading major labor movements, to the millions of DREAMers who are fighting to fix our broken immigration system, to our first responders who put their lives at risk in midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Latino community has played a vital role from the earliest chapters of our history.

“As we head into the final stretch of the 2020 election cycle, we cannot lose sight of what’s at stake: the choice between Washington Republicans who have repeatedly voted to gut our health care or House Democrats who have stood with the Hispanic community, and who have been the only firewall against the recklessness of this administration.

“This Hispanic Heritage Month, we should pause and reflect on the contributions and sacrifices made by the Hispanic community in our nation, often in the face of incredible and enduring adversity. This month, we recommit to our part in that struggle as we build a brighter future in the most important election of our lifetimes.”
