Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after House Democrats voted to keep our government open for 45 days, ensuring active-duty servicemembers and federal workers are paid:
“For months, House Republicans have been beset by chaos, dysfunction and infighting — choosing to push extreme policies at the expense of working families and barrelling us towards a shutdown. Thanks to Democrats, the House of Representatives has finally passed a bipartisan bill that keeps critical services funded – without extreme MAGA priorities that would hurt the middle class and devastate our economy.
“House Democrats have been focused on ensuring our government does not shut down, which would inflict unnecessary pain on hundreds of thousands of middle-class families and active-duty servicemembers.
“To be clear, this is still only a short term solution. It’s critical that we continue to make sure that MAGA extremists don’t hold our nation hostage to advance their dangerous, hateful agenda. Democrats will continue to work to fund the government in a way that honors our commitments, builds the middle class, and invests in working families.”
