DCCC Statement On House Passage of Democratic Proposal to Make Health Care More Affordable

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after the House voted to approve Democrats’ bill to restore the ACA tax credits for three years:

“Today the American people saw what can happen when House Democrats retake the majority: we deliver policies that improve the lives of the American people.

“Under the leadership of Hakeem Jeffries and a united Democratic Caucus, the House took real, meaningful action towards helping hardworking families get relief from skyrocketing health care costs caused by House Republican inaction.

“Make no mistake, House Republicans had months to address the health care crisis of their own making – and have been unwilling to act.

“Passage of House Democrats’ bill to extend the ACA tax credits represents a clear contrast before voters in the upcoming midterms – and highlights what’s at stake. While House Republicans have broken their promise to lower costs and actively work to put affordable health care out of reach for millions – House Democrats will fight every day on behalf of everyday Americans, not just the wealthy or well-connected.”

REMINDER: The DCCC has been holding House Republicans accountable all year for their broken promises to lower prices and their massive cuts to health care to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest few. Less than one year out from the midterms, the DCCC has made the issue a defining contrast for the race for the majority, and will continue to do so through November 2026.
