DCCC Statement On House Republicans’ Failure to Protect Affordable Health Care for Americans

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after House Republicans voted on their “milquetoast garbage” health care bill that did nothing to extend ACA tax credits:

“House Republicans have proven again that they are indifferent to the needs of hardworking American families struggling to pay their bills and unconscionably unserious about finding solutions to provide real relief.

“Let’s be clear, their bill today was nothing more than a desperate 11th hour attempt to mislead the American public that they cared about making health care affordable. In reality, their bill would undermine protections for people with preexisting conditions, do nothing to address skyrocketing health care costs millions are already facing, and result in many Americans losing their health care altogether.

“House Republicans have broken their promise to lower costs, and in fact are actively pushing policies to make life more difficult for hardworking families. Their dangerous and disastrous agenda will cost them the majority next year when voters turn out to hold them accountable.”

REMINDER: The DCCC has been holding House Republicans accountable all year for their broken promises to lower prices and their massive cuts to health care to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest few. Less than one year out from the midterms, the DCCC has made the issue a defining contrast for the race for the majority, and will continue to do so through November 2026.
