DCCC Statement On Issue 1 Failing In Ohio

Republicans Tried To End Majority Rule,
Now They’re Trying To Block Reproductive Rights

Tonight, Ohioans voted “NO” on Issue 1, an antidemocratic measure that sought to end majority rule and obstruct voters from protecting reproductive rights this November.

Ahead of this monumental election, Republicans were out campaigning for Issue 1, fully aware that it was a political power grab intended to change the rules and rob Ohio voters of their voice.

DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“MAGA Republicans in Ohio tried and failed to end majority rule in an election they claimed was ‘100%’ about abortion. The Issue 1 special election should terrify GOP congressional candidates in Ohio and across the country who are using every dirty trick in the political playbook to dismantle reproductive freedoms. This is a major warning sign for the NRCC: Republicans’ deeply unpopular war on women’s rights will cost them district after district, and we will remind voters of their toxic anti-abortion agenda every day until November.”
