| DCCC spokesperson Riya Vashi released the following statement ahead of JD Vance’s visit to Ohio’s 9th congressional district today to lie about Republicans’ dire affordability crisis, tanking economy, and reckless tariffs:
“JD Vance’s second visit to Toledo is just another desperate attempt to lie to Ohioans about Washington Republicans’ cost-raising, economy-tanking agenda of giving tax breaks to billionaires and backing price hiking, reckless tariffs. Thanks to Vance and House Republicans, Ohioans are losing their health care, facing layoffs, and paying higher prices from the grocery store to their electric and water bills. But Vance won’t be able to deceive Northwest Ohioans, who know that Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has always put working people first, not billionaires — and they are excited to re-elect her again this year to keep fighting for them.”
Reminder of the toxic, cost-raising agenda Republicans must defend:
- Jacking up everyday costs for Ohio families, who are currently paying $1,500 more per year for household expenses.
- Hiking electricity prices by voting to end energy tax credits.
- Slashing good-paying jobs in Ohio month after month, including over 6,000 jobs in September 2025 alone.
- Raising health care costs for 29,000 Ohioans who depend on ACA tax credits – and who will be forced to pay an average of 91% more in premium costs or lose their health care.
- Slashing $33 billion in Medicaid funds over the next decade and putting 11 rural hospitals in Ohio at risk of closure.
- Threatening to rip food off the tables of more than 45,000 OH-09 households, over 44% of which have children.
