DCCC Statement on Maryland Supreme Court Greenlighting Constitutional Amendment to Go Before Voters

Following the Maryland State Supreme Court’s ruling clearing the way for voters to decide on a constitutional amendment this November that would facilitate the legislature’s efforts to counter the gerrymandering onslaught by national Republicans, DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz released the following statement:

“Thank you to Governor Moore and Maryland lawmakers for their willingness to stand up to Donald Trump’s corrupt nationwide gerrymandering power grab and give the Free State a means to fight back against House Republicans’ desperate attempts to cling to power.

“We’re confident that, as in other states, when given the opportunity for the public to make their voice heard, the voters of Maryland will stand up, fight back and take this important step to ensure a level playing field for our democracy.”
