| DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin issued the following statement in response to Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson today fundraising in Virginia in opposition to the April 21st referendum – despite the fact that he has cheered on Donald Trump’s unprecedented mid-decade gerrymandering scheme in states like Texas, Florida, and Missouri:
“There is nothing more shamelessly hypocritical than MAGA Mike Johnson begging for cash to try and subvert the will of Virginia voters when he has fully enabled Donald Trump’s unprecedented mid-decade gerrymandering scheme designed to rig the midterm elections in Republicans’ favor. It’s clear that D.C. Republicans and their special interest donors want to silence the voices of Virginians who deserve fair representation in Congress. On April 21st, Virginians will vote Yes and reject Trump, Johnson, and MAGA Republicans’ desperate attempts to stack the deck and avoid accountability for their cost-spiking record.” |
