Following the announcement that North Carolina’s Legislature plans to meet in October to propose a new, further gerrymandered Congressional map, DCCC spokesperson Madison Andrus released the following statement:
“For the 4th time in five years North Carolina’s State Legislature has decided to defy the will of the voters rather than confront their historically unpopular record. Families are struggling to make ends meet, hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians are set to lose their health care, and farmers are feeling the strain of chaotic tariffs every day.
Yet instead of fighting for working families, North Carolina Republicans want to further rig the game so they’re no longer accountable to the voters.
Make no mistake, voters will see this move for exactly what it is – a slimy backroom deal to try to bail out Republicans’ political futures and advance their own self-interests by intentionally diluting minority voting strength and ignoring the will of the voters.”
