The DCCC released the following statement after the House passed the Respect for Marriage Act:
“The passage of the Respect for Marriage Act is a vital victory made possible by the unwavering commitment of Democratic leadership, decades of individuals who fought to make marriage equality a reality, and the millions of LGBTQ+ individuals who live openly, authentically and enlighten the perspectives of people around the world,” said DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia. “Though we rightfully celebrate today, we must never grow complacent or forget how we got here. As our diverse LGBTQ+ community remains under attack through divisive rhetoric and hate-fueled violence, we must recommit to our fight to build a more inclusive, equal, and just world for all.”
