Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after the 5th Circuit abruptly canceled a hearing on the efforts to draw new congressional maps in Louisiana;
“Voting and fair representation is a fundamental right for all, and the Voting Rights Act has been a foundational safeguard for this right – yet Republicans in Louisiana are actively attempting to deny Black voters the right to fair representation. We expect the Supreme Court to quickly intervene to ensure that the District Court complies with the Voting Rights Act and draws a new map, just as they ruled earlier this summer.”
