DCCC Statement on Rob Bresnahan Campaigning With His GOP Party Bosses to Tout His Big, Ugly Bill

DCCC spokesperson Eli Cousin released the following statement ahead of Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain parachuting into NEPA to join Congressman Rob Bresnahan to tout the largest cuts to Medicaid in history:

“Rob Bresnahan lied to his constituents when he promised for months that he would protect Medicaid, only to turn around and vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. Now he’s calling in backup from his D.C. party bosses because he knows that his vote is deeply unpopular and will have devastating consequences for Northeast Pennsylvania families who rely on Medicaid to receive the care they need. No national surrogate parachuting into NEPA will be able to help Bresnahan put lipstick on this pig – he owns his disastrous vote, and it will be a major reason why voters reject him next November.”

REMINDER:

Bresnahan’s Big Ugly Bill will have devastating consequences for Northeast Pennsylvania:

  • 30,499 of Bresnahan’s PA-08 constituents could lose their health insurance.
  • Nearly 60,000 households in Bresnahan’s PA-08 who rely on SNAP could lose food assistance.
  • Rural health clinics serving Bresnahan’s constituents could be forced to shutter.
  • On average, Pennsylvania households could pay $160 more annually for electricity.
  • More than $4 trillion will be added to the federal deficit.
