DCCC Statement on Robert Healey Jr.’s NJ-03 Campaign Announcement

Today, another unproven and untested Republican will jump into a crowded race for Congress where candidates are racing each other to the most extreme out-of-touch positions.

Robert Healey Jr., heir to a family fortune making luxury yachts for the megamillionaires and billionaires, announces he will join the GOP primary in NJ-03.  Healey, in limited policy pronouncements, appears to come out in favor of abolishing Roe v. Wade, allowing states to ban most abortions, and trashes recent small business aid and infrastructure investments in New Jersey post-pandemic.

Healey, whose wealth is inherited and whose only job was one given to him by his father, is out of touch with the challenges facing hard-working families struggling to make ends meet. Healey thinks he can buy this congressional seat, but he is completely disconnected from the issues facing New Jersey families and small businesses.

Healey joins a crowded, tough primary headed by Tricia Flanagan, who’s received the most coverage of the pack for her dog-whistle racist comment saying Congressman Andy Kim is “not one of us.” Along with Flanagan, Healey joins evangelist Shawn Hyland, and Mount Holly School Board Member Will Monk.

James Singer DCCC Spokesman

“Luxury yacht company heir Robert Healey Jr was born into riches, never had to apply for a job in his life, and now wants to run for Congress because he opposes investments in small business, working families, and infrastructure.  Healey doesn’t understand the hard work needed to get America back up and running.”
