DCCC Statement on SCOTUS Oral Arguments Over Republican Efforts to Disenfranchise the Vote of Millions of Americans

Following oral arguments before the Supreme Court regarding Republican attempts to disenfranchise millions of Americans who vote by mail, DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz issued the following statement:

“Republicans have come to the conclusion they have no path to winning the midterms in a free and fair election – so they are resorting to rigging them. Their latest attempt is a desperate scheme to prevent legally eligible Americans from exercising their constitutional right by attacking a proven, and secure, method of voting. Listening to their arguments before the high court today, one can only be left with the impression that Republicans care more about throwing out legal votes – including those of our active duty servicemembers overseas – than encouraging all Americans to cast their ballot.

“Their corrupt attempts to rig the election won’t work and House Democrats will take back the majority when ballots are cast and every legal vote is counted.”
