“Today’s decision is a victory for voters across the state of Texas, particularly Black and Brown Texans. Texas’s most recent gerrymander was so egregious that the federal court did not have to look too hard to find evidence of racial discrimination in their map, with Republicans at both the state and national level expressly stating that their plan was to target and eliminate minority coalition districts. Democrats refuse to stand idly by as Republicans gerrymander their way to unchecked power across Texas and the country, and this victory should be taken as a harbinger of things to come.”
