DCCC Statement on Supreme Court Clearing the Way to End Temporary Protected Status

Following the Supreme Court’s cruel decision to clear the way to end Temporary Protected Status for humanitarian refugees from Haiti and Syria, DCCC Hispanic Press Secretary Bridget Gonzalez released the following statement:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision further embeds Donald Trump’s racism into our country’s immigration laws by clearing the way to end Temporary Protected Status for refugees from Haiti and Syria. These individuals are hardworking members of the community, our friends, and our neighbors who have built lives here and are contributing to the greatness of this country.

“This decision attacks the very foundation on which the United States was built — a nation that has always served as a refuge for those seeking safety and humanitarian protections, and one that stands for freedom and justice above all else. By siding with the most discriminatory, ineffective, and divisive administration in history, the Court is allowing Republicans to keep weaponizing immigration instead of delivering meaningful solutions.”
