Today, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected “Independent State Legislature” theory:
“Today’s decision is a victory for our foundational system of checks and balances. The court has rejected a fringe legal theory pushed by MAGA extremists and made clear that no one individual or branch can exert absolute control at the expense of the public’s interest in fair and equal elections. We intend to continue our efforts to ensure states across the nation adhere to the principles of this decision in the pursuit of voting rights and fair representation in Congress.”
