DCCC Statement on Governor Braun Calling a Special Session to Attempt to Pass Extreme Gerrymander in Indiana

Following reporting that Governor Braun has called a special session for the Indiana General Assembly to try and pass a gerrymandered Congressional map, DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus released the following statement:

“In a desperate attempt to help Washington Republicans cover up their disastrous track record of making life harder for working families, ripping away affordable health care, and doing nothing to lower costs, and despite bipartisan opposition from Hoosiers, Governor Braun has decided to convene a special session for the express purpose of drawing a gerrymandered map that will insulate D.C. Republicans from voters.

“Hoosiers of all political stripes have spoken loudly – they are opposed to this blatant political power grab to undermine the will of the voters.

“Republicans know that their giveaways for billionaires at the expense of working families is going to cost them the House majority next year – this move is nothing more than a shameless power grab because Republicans know they’re losing and we will fight it at every turn.”
