DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson released the following statement following Ohio voters rejecting MAGA Republicans’ six-week abortion ban and codifying reproductive rights in the state’s constitution.
“Tonight is a huge victory for reproductive freedom in Ohio, as voters put an end to the MAGA Republicans’ extreme abortion ban. Whether it’s abortion access, birth control, or miscarriage care, Issue 1 ensures it is women – not politicians – choosing what is best for them and their families.
“In election after election, voters have rejected Republicans’ war on women’s rights and the twisted idea that out-of-touch politicians can dictate decisions that should be between a woman and her doctor. Still, Speaker Mike Johnson and Republicans in the House remain hellbent on passing a national abortion ban and taking away this fundamental freedom. The stakes could not be higher next November.”
