DCCC Statement on Trump’s NY-17 Visit Highlighting Mike Lawler’s Disastrous Economy

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi released the following statement ahead of Trump’s visit to New York’s 17th congressional district tomorrow to campaign with lapdog Mike Lawler and tout their dire affordability crisis tanking the Hudson Valley economy:

“Nothing says ‘I don’t care about my district’ quite like Mike Lawler bringing Donald Trump to NY-17 to tout a disastrous economy that’s crushing working families at every turn. From skyrocketing gas and groceries to unaffordable housing and health care, Lawler bearhugging the unpopular architect of this economic disaster in his own district is just the latest reminder for Hudson Valley voters that their so-called ‘representative’ will always put Donald Trump first, and they sure as hell won’t forget it come November.”

Mike Lawler Has Rubberstamped Trump’s Affordability Crisis at Every Turn:

Hudson Valley Families Are Already Paying the Price — and They Know Lawler is To Blame:

  • Several Hudson Valley are at risk of closure, layoffs, and service cuts after Lawler’s Medicaid vote — with NY-17 hospitals projected to lose over $100 million in revenue needed to keep their doors open.
  • Statewide, 25% of New York hospitals are now at risk, with as many as 34,000 hospital jobs and another 29,000 health care-related jobs on the line.
  • Because Lawler failed to extend the enhanced ACA premium tax credits, New Yorkers are projected to see their premiums spike by as much as 194% — and thousands of New Yorkers are already being priced out of their coverage entirely.
  • Gas prices in NY-17 have surged to over $4.50 a gallon in the wake of the Iran war Lawler voted to enable time and time again.
  • Trump’s tariffs are costing the average American household roughly $2,048 a year.
