Following today’s passage by the Virginia Senate of the redistricting constitutional amendment, DCCC Communications Director Courtney Rice released the following statement:
“Today’s affirmative vote by the Virginia Senate, following a successful vote in the Virginia House of Delegates on Wednesday, is an important next step in the Commonwealth keeping its options open to counter Trump and Republican efforts to rig the midterm elections. We only find ourselves in this position because Republicans know their agenda of raising costs, gutting American’s health care, and stealing food from working families is disastrous. Rather than leave their fate to the voters, they’re attempting to take power out of the hands of the public and place it within their own party. The DCCC is thankful to Virginia’s Democratic leadership and legislators for acting with swiftness, clarity, and resolve in this matter.”
