“Once again, Americans across the country have been shaken by the death of another unarmed Black man at the hands of a police officer. Yesterday, Daunte Wright was killed during a traffic stop in Minnesota. It should not be lost upon any of us that this latest tragedy has occurred amidst the Chauvin trial. In this country, our justice system should mean that all Americans’ interactions with law enforcement are fair and just. As the details emerge and remembrances of Daunte’s life begin, my heart is with his family. May the nation’s prayers comfort them in this tragic moment and spur the rest of us to act.”
