After Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen announced his retirement, DCCC spokesman Avery Jaffe issued the following statement:
“Behind closed doors, Speaker Bonnen told the truth about Republicans’ plight: Donald Trump is absolutely toxic for them in the suburbs. Dumping Bonnen won’t do anything to change the truth he warned his fellow Republicans about in secret: Washington Republicans have tied themselves hook, line and sinker to Trump’s reckless agenda — from health care repeal to a tax handout to big corporations that hurts middle class families. Now, their only choice is to live with the consequences.”
