DCCC Targets Eight Seats in California as Democrats Plot Path to Majority

DCCC reveals offensive battlefield list, places CA-03, CA-13, CA-22, CA-27, CA-40, CA-41, CA-45, and CA-47 on offensive Districts In Play list

Today, the DCCC revealed its initial Districts In Play list for the 2024 cycle and named CA-03, CA-13, CA-22, CA-27, CA-40, CA-41, CA-45, and CA-47 as offensive target districts that will help Democrats win back the House majority in 2024.

In CA-13, John Duarte won by just 564 votes. In CA-22, David Valadao won by just 3,132 votes. Mike Garcia is one of 18 House Republicans representing a district President Biden won in 2020 and CA-27 is the second highest Biden victory margin on the DCCC’s offensive list at 12.6 points.

The path to the Democratic majority could run through California. After protecting the now open CA-47, Democrats only need to flip 5 seats to reclaim the majority – and California has 5 districts currently represented by Republicans that President Biden won in 2020.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Democrats will be playing aggressively in these competitive districts to give Californians a clear choice in 2024. These vulnerable Republicans have used the first few months of their majority to show they are more focused on partisan investigations, out-of-touch legislation, and protecting wealthy corporations and their own self-interest than tackling the issues facing their communities.”

The DCCC’s Districts In Play are competitive Republican-held or open districts across the nation that are critical battlegrounds as the DCCC works to unseat Republicans and win a Democratic House majority this cycle.

Additionally, this cycle will mark the first time ever that the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, which allows grassroots donors to donate now to contribute to the eventual Democratic nominee in these Districts In Play.
