De La Cruz-Backed Shutdown Is Ripping Food Off of Texans’ Tables

“A world of pain is about to start”
On day 23 of the Republican shutdown, millions of hardworking Americans are at risk of losing SNAP benefits that help them put food on their families’ tables — and it’s all because of Monica De La Cruz and House Republicans.

As House Republicans, including De La Cruz, refuse to come to the negotiating table to end their shutdown “a number of states have announced that they’ll begin shutting down SNAP and other benefits due to the government shutdown, cutting off key safety nets for families in need.”

“In Texas, the state government announced that the 3.4 million people who get SNAP in the state won’t receive it if the shutdown continues past Oct. 27.”

REMINDER: De La Cruz voted for the largest cuts to SNAP in history earlier this year, making Texans pay more for their groceries. Now, she is doubling down on her cruelty and holding this key program hostage that feeds Texans and keeps food affordable.
