DEBATE RECAP: Mike Lawler Doubles Down on Disastrous Record of Voting with Donald Trump 100% of The Time

During last night’s first debate in New York’s 17th Congressional District, MAGA Lapdog Mike Lawler spent the night embarrassing himself on stage by touting his extreme agenda of gutting health care, raising costs, and putting Donald Trump over the Hudson Valley when it matters most.

Six times Lawler showed us he’s Trump’s puppet in Congress:

  1. Lawler repeatedly defended his decisive vote for the Big, Ugly Bill, which gutted health care and SNAP for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to give more tax breaks to billionaires.
  2. Lawler doubled down on his SIX votes in support of Trump’s reckless war of choice overseas that has spiked gas and diesel costs across NY-17, answering “YES” when asked if the U.S. should remain fighting in Iran.
  3. Lawler refused to take accountability for voting to enact the largest cuts to Medicaid in history after blatantly lying and repeatedly promising Hudson Valley families last year he would not vote to cut Medicaid.
  4. Lawler doubled down on his staunch support of Trump’s cost-spiking tariff policies, which he’s voted to protect EIGHT times and dismissed as “a little bit of short-term pain.”
  5. Lawler touted his non-existent record of standing up to Donald Trump in Washington, failing to name a single time he’s held the president accountable while in the Oval Office or at rallies together.
  6. Lawler refused to answer for the $80 billion in tax breaks he voted to give big tech companies and data center developers – even supporting a provision to ban states like New York from regulating AI.

MEANWHILE: Army combat veteran Cait Conley outlined her plans to lower costs for working families, increase affordable housing in the district, fight corruption in Washington, and protect affordable health care once in Congress.
