After last night’s third and final debate in New York’s Seventeenth Congressional District, vulnerable New York Republican Mike Lawler once again refused to support codifying Roe v. Wade – a prime example of how he’s been lying through his teeth when it comes to protecting women’s reproductive rights.
Mondaire Jones, on the other hand, has pledged multiple times to codify Roe v. Wade. Jones voted for the Women’s Health Protection Act and will continue to support the critical legislation back in Congress.
Mondaire Jones: “He doesn’t want to answer it but he said in the past: he would absolutely vote against restoring the protections that were contained in Roe v. Wade… It is why voters of the Seventeenth Congressional District have to understand that a vote for him is a vote to take away women’s reproductive freedoms.”
DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Mike Lawler tries to talk out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to abortion rights, but where he stands is simplified to this: he won’t support codifying Roe v. Wade. Mondaire Jones’ record makes it abundantly clear he’s the only candidate in the race for New York’s Seventeenth Congressional District who will always protect a woman’s right to choose.”
