Tonight, House Republicans suffered the latest in a long line of electoral disappointments – this time in a district Trump won by 22 points. After spending more than $3.3 million to defend the previously solidly Republican TN-07, Republicans only managed to hold on to the seat, underperforming their 2024 margin by 13 points.
As voters continue to abandon House Republicans over their failed agenda of higher health care costs, higher prices at the grocery store, and tax cuts for billionaires, Democrats are ready to build on this momentum.
Already on the DCCC’s Districts in Play are numerous congressional districts that have voted for Republicans in most recent elections, but are now undoubtedly in play including:
- Andy Ogles, TN-05
- Monica De La Cruz, TX-15
- Open, KY-06
- Maria Elvira Salazar, FL-27
- Eli Crane, AZ-02
- Cory Mills, FL-07
- Anna Paulina Luna, FL-13
- Open, IA-02
- Rob Bresnahan PA-08
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Tonight’s election results prove exactly what the DCCC has known all along – Democrats are on offense not just in the standard swing districts but in red terrain across the country. Our expansive battlefield shows that Democrats are ready to fight in rural districts, in Latino communities, in Trump country, and everywhere in between. House Republicans are officially on notice – Democrats are taking back the majority in 2026.”
