Jobless claims at lowest level since pandemic thanks to passage of American Rescue Plan
Today, the U.S. Labor Department reported that in the last week, unemployment claims fell to 473,000, the lowest level since mid-March 2020 right before the COVID-19 pandemic. This record number shows that the American Rescue Plan is delivering real relief to help workers get back on the job.
Because Democrats in Congress refused to let Republicans block critical relief, the American Rescue Plan boosted our economy by strengthening vaccine rollouts, supporting small businesses, and getting cash into Americans’ pockets to help people start working again.
It’s no question who’s responsible for these record low unemployment claims. Every single House Republican voted against relief to American workers and businesses. As the nation continues to recover from the devastating economic impact of COVID-19, Americans will remember who fought for them and who didn’t.
