Democrats Expand the House Battlefield As More Republicans Drop Out of Race for Congress

House Democrats are on offense ahead of the November midterm election, united behind a commonsense message, powered by grassroots support, and rallying behind the American people disgusted by the GOP-controlled Congress.

As The New York Times reports, “All across the country, the Democrats trying to take back control of Congress have been scouring, scouting and recruiting candidates with compelling biographies to compete in seemingly lopsidedly red regions — with remarkable success.”

As Democrats continue to score massive wins with top-tier recruits, we are growing the number of offensive opportunities on the House battlefield. Just last week in Texas, Democrats flipped a state senate race that Trump won by 17 points in November 2024 despite being outspent 6-to-1 in a district that is significantly larger than a congressional district. Now, Republicans are freaking out.

The Washington Post explains that the monumental victory over the weekend is raising questions about Trump’s mid-decade gerrymandering scheme in the Lone Star State as Democrats continue to overperform in election after election. As the Post reports, according to internal DCCC data, in the four Congressional special elections since Donald Trump was elected, Democrats have overperformed 2024 presidential margins by 17.1% – a stunning achievement.

Not only is the public souring on the failed Republican agenda, Republicans also have recruitment issues. Rep. Tony Gonzalez, an imperiled incumbent, suggested that the victory was NOT a rogue special election, then took a swipe at the NRCC for their failed recruitment. “We have to get the right candidates,” Gonzalez told the Post.

And today, A THIRD Republican dropped out of the race for Congress, this time in Indiana’s 1st Congressional district (the others in Ohio and New York).

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Republicans are doomed in November, and they know it. The tide is rapidly turning as these corrupt GOP politicians turn their backs on the people they are expected to serve, instead working exclusively for the wealthy and well-connected.”
