Two years ago, the Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law thanks to the leadership of President Biden and House Democrats.
The historic legislation has delivered for working families and has cut costs, created jobs, and invested in AANHPI, Black, and Latino communities across the country. The Inflation Reduction Act has:
-
Capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month for Medicare recipients, saving millions of Americans an average of $500 per year, including the 2.1 million AANHPI, 5.8 million Black, and 5.3 million Latino Part D enrollees.
-
Kept the health care industry from raising costs on 13 million Americans who rely on the Affordable Care Act.
-
Created the Climate and Environmental Justice Block Grants to support community-led projects in disadvantaged communities and address disproportionate environmental and public health harms related to pollution and climate change.
-
Invested billions and created thousands of new clean energy jobs in communities of color, including:
-
Forty-nine new clean energy projects, spurring $17.64 billion in investment and 16,623 new clean energy jobs in Asian American communities
-
Fifty-seven new clean energy projects, spurring $69.07 billion in investment and 40,862 new clean energy jobs in Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander communities
-
Fifty-six new clean energy projects, spurring $38.02 billion in investment and 37,498 new clean energy jobs in Native American communities
-
One hundred twenty-four new clean energy projects, spurring $53.52 billion in investment and 58,473 new clean energy jobs in Black communities
-
Sixty-one new clean energy projects, spurring $41.08 billion in investment and 46,660 new clean energy jobs in Latino communities
Every single House Republican voted against this landmark legislation.
House Republicans have voted 42 times to repeal the job creating investments in the Inflation Reduction Act – but that hasn’t stopped their vulnerable members from trying to falsely take credit for the jobs and investments created from legislation passed by House Democrats.
DCCC Spokesperson José Muñoz:
“When Democrats are in the majority, they deliver for all Americans, including communities of color. Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act has cut costs and created thousands of jobs in AANHPI, Black, and Latino communities. It’s a stark contrast with House Republicans’ majority, which has resulted in what is on track to be the least productive Congress since the Civil War. That’s why voters will help Democrats retake the majority in November to get back to delivering for working families.”
