Democrats Stand With Seniors While House Republicans Kowtow to Big Pharma

House Republicans put politics ahead of lowering costs for seniors

Today, the Biden administration announced the first set of ten prescription drugs that will be subject to new price negotiations, reducing the cost of many of Medicare’s most expensive medicines. The ability to negotiate down drug prices was included in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a law that MAGA Republicans opposed and sought to repeal.

Drugs to fight cancer, diabetes, and heart disease will be more affordable for everyday Americans thanks to the ongoing efforts of House Democrats to cut costs and deliver for working families.

Democrats additionally capped out-of-pocket prescription drug costs under Medicare to $2,000 per year in the IRA – including capping the cost of insulin to $35/month.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“House Democrats are laser-focused on delivering real results that have a meaningful impact for working families, and today’s milestone is an important example of how Americans benefit when Democrats are in the majority. Extreme MAGA Republicans would rather kowtow to Big Pharma than help seniors and put money back in pockets.”
