Democrats to Hold “People’s Town Halls” in Competitive GOP-Held Districts As Republicans Refuse to Meet With Their Constituents

The DCCC, DNC, ASDC, and Democratic state parties across the country are holding vulnerable House Republicans accountable for refusing to face their constituents and answer for their votes to put billionaires above working people

Today, Democrats are launching “People’s Town Halls” – a series of in-person public events in competitive districts across the country as vulnerable GOP House members continue to run scared from their constituents.

Starting with the upcoming in-district work period, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic National Committee, Association of State Democratic Committees, and Democratic state parties’ “People’s Town Halls” will engage voters who have been left behind by the Republican trifecta’s dangerous agenda.

As House Republicans threaten Social Security and Medicare, cut jobs for veterans, put health care and food assistance on the chopping block, and enable the Trump-Musk agenda as it wrecks the economy and threatens families, voters are furious. Republicans’ disastrous agenda is why the NRCC issued a directive for Republicans to avoid hosting town halls.

Upcoming “People’s Town Halls” include:

  • Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Juan Ciscomani
  • Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Gabe Evans
  • Florida’s 13th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna
  • Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Zach Nunn
  • Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. John James
  • Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Ann Wagner
  • Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Don Bacon
  • Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie
  • Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, represented by Republican Rep. Rob Bresnahan

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene issued the following statement:
“These increasingly vulnerable House Republicans are failing to do the most basic aspect of their jobs: meeting with the people they represent. Voters deserve elected officials who will take the time to meet with and listen to them, but instead these House Republicans are hiding from their own voters to avoid having to defend their disastrous record of stripping health care and food access from the families, workers, and seniors in their communities.”

Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin issued the following statement:
“Republicans in Congress know they sold out their voters by backing the Trump-Musk agenda – and now they’re terrified to be in the same room as the people who sent them to Washington. When 217 House Republicans voted for Donald Trump’s billionaire tax handout, each one agreed to destroy Medicaid, keep food from kids and families in need, and target the programs that take care of our veterans – all in service of massive tax breaks for their billionaire donors and wealthy corporations. Instead of facing their constituents, they’re running scared and hiding from the people they were elected to represent. If they won’t talk to their own voters, then Democrats will. That’s why we’ll be hosting People’s Town Halls in all 50 states across the country, starting now with vulnerable GOP-held target districts. Working families deserve to have their voices heard, even if Republicans want to ignore them.”

Association of State Democratic Committees Chair Jane Kleeb issued the following statement:
“Our Democratic state parties are stronger than ever and ready to meet the moment. In all 57 states and territories, Democrats will host town halls to engage our communities and show that we are listening to Americans across the country. Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent, people are fed up with Elon Musk running our government and Republicans voting to take away the critical programs people in our states rely on. Now, these cowards won’t even meet with their own constituents in person. As a proud Nebraskan and as the Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party, my message is simple: If you guys won’t meet with your constituents, we will. Democrats are rising up and it starts in the states.”

A list of events and information on how to RSVP for these “People’s Town Halls” will be coming soon.
