The far-right Conservative House Republican Study Committee, of which vulnerable Congressman Jeff Denham is a member, recently released a set of policy recommendations aimed at influencing Speaker Paul Ryan’s hollow efforts to build the House GOP’s policy agenda. In announcing their list of extreme policy positions, the RSC brags that the platform was “member-driven” – leading us to wonder, which of the RSC’s policy prescriptions did Denham help write?
Was it eliminating TIGER grants, which create jobs and provide critical support for transportation projects across California?
Or was it supporting a flat tax, which favors millionaires, like Denham, but shifts the tax burden on to low- and middle-income families?
Or could it be eliminating the DACA & DAPA programs, which temporarily deferred the deportation of millions of undocumented immigrant children and families, a move that over 10 years is expected to grow the U.S. economy by $230 billion?
“Vulnerable Congressman Jeff Denham is lending his name to another hollow GOP ‘agenda’ that won’t do anything to help Central Valley families,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Denham’s membership in this group means he shares its out-of-touch positions.”
