Denver Riggleman Says Republican Party Has Lost Its Way After NRCC Bankrolls Anti-Semitic Conspiracy Candidate

On yesterday’s Meet The Press, Republican Representative Denver Riggleman called out his party for having lost their way after Chuck Todd asked him what he thought about the NRCC endorsing and donating the maximum amount of money a PAC can donate to QAnon conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The NRCC’s max out donation to Marjorie Taylor Greene comes despite a bipartisan majority of Congressmembers, including NRCC Chair Tom Emmer, joining together to condemn QAnon earlier this month. Taylor Greene is now an NRCC “Young Gun,” along with a long list of other dangerous conspiracy theoristsNazi sympathizersflat out racists, and warrant dodgers that they are bankrolling.

In the interview, Rep. Riggleman gave a frank assessment of his party and exposes the ways they actively pandering to a dangerous group of anti-Semitists who believe that “Lord of the Rings is a documentary.”

DCCC Spokesperson Madia Coleman said:

“Not only has the NRCC ignored calls to denounce and cease funding the fringe candidates that they have recruited, but even after Marjorie Taylor Greene has in more ways than one shown she is not suitable to be in Congress, NRCC chose to endorse her and donate to her. We commend Congress Riggleman for speaking out against his party leaders that have in fact seem to have lost their way.”

Transcript:

Chuck Todd: You were aggressive on the other side of the aisle to get a bipartisan resolution to condemn this wacky QAnon conspiracy that led to some violent actions by some of these believers. Of course, there’s Marjorie Taylor Green, the Republican candidate for congress in Georgia, that’s likely to become a member of congress. Here you’ve got a large majority of the house to condemn Qanon and very quietly this week we saw the Republican Party has officially endorsed Marjorie Taylor-Greene and donated the maximum amount of money the NRCC can do. What message does that send to the party as a whole that they did that?

Riggleman: So I might as well just piss everybody off, Chuck. If we’re doing this, if we’re looking at the spread of misinformation as part of something just to pander to a certain subset of voters, I think we lost our way.[…] When we start to actually represent as a party that’s part of this the anti-semitic conspiracy theory that believes there’s some sort of pedophilic cabal on the democratic side of the house, I think we’re in for a rough ride.
