| Deciding that rising unemployment, skyrocketing grocery costs, and climbing utility costs isn’t enough bad news, Deputy Speaker Mike Johnson has decided the American people need another sucker punch to their pocketbook: health care.
But it’s not just the Deputy Speaker who is attacking Americans’ health care – the phony vulnerable House Republicans who pretended they would fight to save the tax credits are now bracing to cave. Like they always do.
As a result of Republican inaction, millions of Americans will face increased health care costs, causing many to abandon their coverage altogether.
It doesn’t have to be this way. 214 Members of Congress are currently signed onto a discharge petition that would trigger a vote on the House floor for a clean, three-year extension of the ACA tax credits, saving health care for millions. Just four Republicans are needed to get a vote on the House floor and bypass Deputy Speaker Johnson and his refusal to act.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Time is running out to save health care for millions of Americans. Just four House Republicans need to put people over party. We’re not holding our breath. We all know the phony moderates always fall in line behind the Deputy Speaker.” |
