Derek Tran Fights for Health Care, Stands with Planned Parenthood

As the GOP’s shutdown and reckless Big, Ugly Law threatens access to care across Southern California, Congressman Derek Tran stood shoulder to shoulder with Planned Parenthood of Orange County to demand affordable, accessible health care for every family.

Republicans’ disastrous law is set to rip away coverage from more than 44,000 hardworking people in California’s 45th District alone — and millions more nationwide.

While Republicans force the country into a health care crisis, Tran is fighting back, calling out cuts that will devastate women, families, and frontline health care workers.

“Nationwide, more than 1.1 million people will have nowhere to turn for services like parental care, cancer screening, birth control and primary care. And this is just the beginning. More Medicaid cuts, bureaucratic red tape will make life even harder and more expensive.” – Rep. Tran.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Derek Tran has a proven record of showing up for Californians. While Republicans push policies that make care more expensive and less accessible, Tran is fighting to protect the health and dignity of every family in his district.”

  • ABC 7 Los Angeles: “Representative Derek Tran is in Southern California blasting the recent federal cuts to Planned Parenthood and Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill. Tran says because of a provision in that bill, Planned Parenthood has been forced to eliminate their health care service line Melody Health.
  • That’s the program that has provided wellness visits, vaccines, diabetes management and behavioral health. Planned Parenthood has also been forced to lay off at least 77 staff members working in [Southern California].”
