| As House Republicans continue their 37-day-long vacation and refuse to come back to D.C. to reopen the government, Congressman Derek Tran is leading the fight to protect SNAP benefits for the Californians who need them most.
REMINDER: On November 1, nearly 310,000 Orange County residents lost access to the SNAP benefits they rely on to feed their families because House Republicans refused to release emergency funds for the program.
Tran led a group of his California Democratic colleagues in urging the USDA to use every available legal tool to ensure families continue receiving the SNAP benefits they need without pauses or disruptions.
Tran knows firsthand how vital these programs are for California families:
“Growing up, my family relied on SNAP benefits to keep food on the table. Without these benefits, we wouldn’t have been able to make ends meet. I am urgently calling on my colleagues to find a way to fund this program.” – Rep. Tran
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Derek Tran knows what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet – that’s why he’s fighting to protect programs that help families keep food on the table. Instead of playing political games with people’s lives, House Republicans should end their manufactured shutdown and do their jobs.” |
