Derrick Van Orden Avoids Constituents After Nightmare Week

New details “paint an even more disturbing picture of what took place that night.”

Derrick Van Orden continues to get heat for accosting high school Senate pages in the U.S. Capitol last week and refusing to apologize, leading him to hide from Wisconsinites and cancel an in-district event with constituents.

First, he downplayed the incident in a chaotic interview, joking that he was misquoted and “the people who have brought this up are not serious people.” (CC: His own GOP colleaguesLeader McConnell, etc.) Then, the Leader-Telegram Editorial Board called on him to apologize.

Now, new reporting reveals Van Orden was “physically aggressive” and “screaming inches from the pages’ faces.” After getting rebuked from both sides of the aisle, even Van Orden’s own party realizes he’s unfit for office.

Reminder: Van Orden stormed the Capitol on January 6th and has a history of losing his temper in public.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Derrick Van Orden’s latest outburst is not only inappropriate, but it’s part of a pattern of disqualifying, mean-spirited and bullying behavior. His constituents deserve better and voters will be ready to send him and his temper tantrums packing next November.”
