Derrick Van Orden voted today for extreme conspiracy theorist Jim Jordan for speaker in the chaotic, ongoing GOP leadership fight.
Van Orden had every opportunity to embrace a bipartisan governing coalition, but chose to enable his far-right, election denying colleagues instead.
Thanks to Van Orden, Speaker candidate Jim Jordan now has been given the greenlight to push an extreme, dangerous agenda that:
- Defunds federal law enforcement.
- Passes a nationwide abortion ban with no exceptions.
- Repeals investments that are creating good-paying jobs and reinvigorating American manufacturing.
It’s no surprise Van Ordan voted for Jordan given their shared attacks on our free and fair elections – Van Orden attended the “Stop the Steal” rally on January 6th that led to the deadly Capitol insurrection, while Jordan was a ringleader who tried to overturn the 2020 election results.
And while Van Orden continues to ignore the Farm Bill that expired 17 days ago, it turns out his choice for speaker has left Wisconsin farmers behind and voted against every single Farm Bill during his time in Congress.
